    Frequently asked questions

    Can a family member file on behalf of someone who’s unable to?
    Yes. If someone is under 18, a parent or guardian files the lawsuit. If deceased, the estate's administrator or executor can bring the case. If mentally incapacitated, a guardian ad litem can be appointed.
    Can you help me get medical care while my case is ongoing? How will I pay my medical bills? I can't work.
    We have access to many resources: workers' compensation, NYS disability, private insurance, and Social Security. Based on the type of accident, we work to ensure your medical care is covered, and we connect you to all available income sources
    Do I need a lawyer to represent me?
    You’re not required to have a lawyer, but we add significant value. We know how insurers shift blame, and we fight to ensure you receive compensation that fully covers your medical and other needs.
    How much is my case worth?
    Yes. Most cases must be filed within 3 years in NY, 2 years in NJ. Some cases have shorter deadlines (e.g. 90 days if a government entity is involved). There are tolling rules for minors—time doesn’t start until age 18. Call us for a free case evaluation
    What does “contingency fee” mean?
    In NY, we take 1/3 of the settlement amount. Example: if the case settles for $900K, our fee is $300K. We’re reimbursed for any out-of-pocket expenses, and large costs are always discussed in advance.
    Will I be able to speak directly with my lawyer?
    Yes. You’ll have direct access to your attorney. We prioritize communication and guide you throughout your case.
    Will I have to go to court? / How much of my time will this take?
    Most cases settle before trial. We handle the majority of the work—your job is to keep us updated and attend medical exams. If court is needed, we’ll fully prepare you and be by your side.
    Will this cover future medical bills and long-term care needs?
    Yes. Part of our role is to ensure compensation includes future medical expenses and long-term care where applicable.
